During that time I observed her physicians. Their compassion and care for my mother impressed me and made me decide to become a physician. In medical school it became apparent to me that one of the few times people actually looked forward to going to the doctor is when they are pregnant. For that reason being an obstetrician and being able to take part in such a happy and wonderful occasion was very appealing to me. I have always enjoyed working with young women, helping them to plan their lives to be successful in whatever their goals are. I feel sex education is an important aspect of a woman's success and hope that I can make an impact on many young women's lives through my medical practice. What brought you to Greenville?I grew up and went to school in Texas. When it came time to apply to residency I wanted a new experience, but did not want to live somewhere cold. I ended up matching for residency in Greenville. My husband, also a Texan, and I always thought we would end up back in Texas, but as we were in Greenville longer, we realized what a great city it is. We love having the comforts of a city with the small town feel! What is your greatest accomplishment?Being a successful, working mother! My son Henry, was born 6 weeks premature in March of 2008. He is the joy of my life! I am thankful to have a great husband, who makes it possible for me to have a career and be a mother. What would we be surprised to know about you?I am an animal lover! I have two Miniature Schnauzers, Scarlet and Shadow, and a Vizsla, Red. I am an avid college football fan, Go Texas Tech Red Raiders! I am the President of the Board of Directors for AID Upstate, the HIV charity organization in Greenville and Anderson. Our house was featured in G Magazine in September 2009 for contemporary design. |
