While I was in medical school and be exposed to all areas of medicine, I found that I was drawn to surgical specialties and also enjoyed long term relationships with patients. In OB/GYN, I found the best of both aspects of medicine. I am able to establish long term relationships with patients and follow patients throughout their life and also address their surgical problems. What are your special interests in OB/GYN?
I continue to enjoy all aspects of OB/GYN, but I have an increasing interest in advances in minimally invasive treatment of gynecologic problems. With the increasing use of minimally invasive treatment, women are able to have their problems resolved with minimal impact on their personal and professional lives. What brought you to Greenville?
I grew up in northeastern Ohio in the township of Boardman. I visited Furman University and decided that it was the school for me. I then attended the University of South Carolina School of Medicine. During my third year, I had the opportunity to return to Greenville for my last two years of medical school and could not pass up the opportunity. My wife Andrea, whom I had met in medical school, also completed medical school in Greenville and we decided that this was the place we wanted to live. Andrea is a partner in Allergy Partners of the Upstate and we have two wonderful daughters. What do you do outside of medicine?
While at Furman, I played football for one year and baseball for all four years. I continue to enjoy competing and participating in sports, although most of my spare time is spent with my family. We enjoy Greenville and especially the access to the mountains, lakes, and beaches of South Carolina. |
